Pelicans line up at Portside

A wonderful bird is the pelican, his beak can hold more than his belly can. Yes, you open your eyes in surprise and wonder how the hell he can.

And there are plenty of these marvellous birds feeling right at home in Brisbane.

Lined up on the posts at Dockside, they put on a magnificent display for passersby.

Head over to the Queensland Museum and in the forecourt, is another collection, cast in bronze by Edward and Kathleen Shillam in 1984.

And a bit further downstream, near the Captain Cook Bridge, another pair of “bio-mechanical pelicans”  made of scrap metal by Christopher Trotter in 1995, sit happily on their post in the river.
